AFTER August, people will no longer be able to pay their council tax bills in cash at the Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) area offices in Buckingham and Winslow.

An AVDC spokesman told the Advertiser: “I can confirm that the area offices are not closing.

“However, we will cease taking cash payments from September 1 at Buckingham and Winslow and close the cash office in the Aylesbury Customer Service Centre.

“Customers identified as paying their council tax bills by cash or cheque will be sent a new bar-coded bill commencing from July 23 to enable them to pay at post offices and PayPoints.”

But he confirmed that card payments will still be accepted at the Buckingham and Winslow area offices.

Customers in Buckingham can pay at the post office, Belci on the High Street and Londis on Nelson Street.

In Winslow, people can pay at the post office or the Co-Op, and there are also places to pay in several local villages.

A leaflet detailing these will be available from this week.
