A family-run nurseries is enjoying an action-packed run up to Christmas with a bustling new coffee cabin and fully-booked wreath-making workshops.
Preston Bissett Nurseries & Country Shop has been serving green-fingered families for more than 27 years.
But it now serves coffee, teas and treats as well as its range of plants and flowers – it even does mulled wine, mulled cider and minced pies at the weekend.
Owner Jacky Richardson, who runs the nurseries with her husband Peter, said: “It feels like Chelsea Flower Show at the moment.
“Garden centres are all the same nowadays – it’s like walking into Tesco.
“But we’re different. The coffee shop is going really, really well.
“People are enjoying having a coffee with us and it’s very pretty by the wood burner.”
Along with the jam-packed wreath-making sessions and selling British Christmas trees, Mrs Richardson is planning for a springtime garden school programme.
Classes, which start on March 5 and run until the end of the year, include how to prune roses, build hanging baskets, design willow sculptures, deal with pests and how best to grow your own vegetables.
