Schools and community groups rolled up their sleeves and turned out last weekend to Clean for the Queen.
The mass litter pick was co- ordinated by Buckingham Town Council as part of the celebrations for Her Majesty’s 90th birthday celebrations.
Head of sixth form at the Royal Latin School, Jason Skyrme, said: “It was a great success and the children were really enthusiastic.
“We met up with the primary school students from George Grenville Academy.
“Between the two schools, we had over 50 young people cleaning up Buckingham.
“I am pleased to report that the town is relatively clean, but we still managed to collect over 10 of the purple ‘Royal Bags’ of rubbish.”
Jenny Manning, from the the Railway Walk Conservation Group, said: “With additional help from local families, we collected 11 sacks of rubbish plus other items just from the Railway Walk alone.”
Buckingham Park Run group is planning a litter pick this weekend, and town councillors will be litter picking in the town centre and other areas, including Page Hill. Members of the public are welcome to join in.Contact the town council on 01280 816426.
