Burglaries in Buckingham are 62 per cent up on last year, heard residents at Wednesday’s annual meeting of the Buckingham and Maids Moreton Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG).
Insp James Davies told the Advertiser: “I am aware that Buckingham and District has suffered a recent rise in house burglaries.
“In the last two months we have seen an average of just over one burglary a week.
“The reduction of burglary ‘dwelling’ is a priority for Thames Valley Police and Community Safety Partnership. Sadly, at this time of year a rise in burglary is predictable.
“Since September we have been targeting areas of concern to educate members of the public on how best to reduce the chances of becoming a victim. Alongside this we have been providing a high-profile presence in any areas identified as having an increased risk of burglary.”
A number of arrests have been made in response to the burglaries that have taken place.
