TEENAGERS from Brackley and Towcester will be among those fighting it out at the British Hovercraft Championship at Towcester Racecourse this weekend.
They belong to hovercaft clubs at Magdalen College School and Sponne School set up by Brackley man Darren Stevens two years ago. His 13-year-old son Jonathan is one of those competing with the Northamptonshire Hovercraft Club.
In his first season Jonathan has reached third in the British Junior Championship and will be hoping to improve his position with a more powerful craft this weekend. New racers, 12-year-olds William Balderstone from Magdalen Hovercraft Club and Max Golding from the Sponne Hovercraft Club will be teaming up for the first time at Towcester. Mr Stevens said the racing was close, with exciting transitions between land and water.
Entrance costs £10 per car and racing starts at 1.10pm tomorrow, Saturday, continuing on Sunday from 11.30am.
