PARENTS and friends of Syresham St James CofE Primary dodged the showers as they enjoyed a traditional May Day Fete on Bank Holiday Monday.
Catherine Clarke, the joint chairman of the Friends of Syresham School said the day was a great success despite the rain, and raised over £1,300 for the school’s outdoor learning area.
She added: “I’d like to thank everyone who helped make this day the success it was, and for all those families and friends who came and supported the day.
“The May Pole dancing went ahead between the showers, and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. We raised a fantastic amount of money for the outdoor learning area”.
The afternoon of activities started with a procession of reception children through the village. They officially opened the when they reached the school.
In addition to the traditional May Pole dance and crowning of the May King and Queen, the fete included a range of stalls including a tombola, lucky lollipop, hook the duck, a barbecue, bar, auction, and a raffle.
