It was cakes and crafts for Whittlebury Women’s Institute as it celebrated its 90th birthday with a garden party.

More than 40 members and guests gathered in Denise and Brian Gale’s High Street home garden and enjoyed a celebratory cake baked by Jan Peace.

There were photographs and memorabilia on show and several past presidents attended.

Shirley Corke, the present federation chairman and Mildred Cochram, county chairman from 10 years ago, were the guests of honour.

Events in coming weeks include a tutorial session from a table flower arrangement specialist.

New members are encouraged to join the institute so if you are interested, contact Angela Randall on 01327 856463.
