Passing ancient skill down to a new generation of farmers

A winter hedgelaying workshop helped young farmers learn the ancient skill.

The event, which took place at Maids Morton was organised by the Buckinghamshire Young Farmers group.

They were joined on the day by local prize-winning hedgelayers, who were only too happy to show the local way of doing the job.

Thomas Charge of the Buckinghamshire Young Farmers, said: “Overall everyone had a brilliant day, it was a lot of hard work with real blood and sweat put into it, but we did learn a lot about the wildlife and how laying a hedge helps to restore our beautiful countryside in Bukingham which we take for granted every day.”

The group is also looking for new members, and are open to those aged between 10 and 26.
