Aylesbury libraries close as Bucks Council extend loans due to third lockdown

Following the announcement of a new national lockdown all Buckinghamshire libraries will be closed until further notice.

Customers are advised to keep their books at home with all fines and charges on hold at this time.

On site access to the Buckinghamshire Archives will remain closed.

Online members will still have access to eBooks, eMagazines, eAudiobooks, eNewspapers and online references can be accessed here. It's possible for residents to set-up an online membership on the Buckinghamshire Council website as well.

Two internet access points will remain in Aylesbury alongside 'emergency assistance' at the following access points: Walton Street, Aylesbury and The Gateway, Aylesbury.

The closure of libraries follows national lockdown restrictions announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson at 8PM on Monday January 4 announcing the closure of all schools and colleges.

Under the new restrictions funerals can still take place in Buckinghamshire with up to 30 guests, weddings will only be allowed in exceptional circumstances with a maximum of six guests.

Bin collection will continue as normal days and recycling information can be checked here.

Recycling centres will remain open in lockdown, as will Buckinghamshire's three country parks. Road repair services are also scheduled to carrying as normal in the county.

All Buckinghamshire Council leisure and sports centres – with the exception of playgrounds – will remain closed during the lockdown. This includes The South Buckinghamshire Golf Course and outdoor sports courts and multi-use games areas.
