Jan Stiegeler is down in the dumps after a council lorry ‘swallowed’ her brown recycling bin.

The Quainton resident spent two days searching for her missing garden waste container and asking if neighbours had seen it.

Then she phoned the council.

Jan, who lives in Winwood Place, said: “The council told me they were aware of this, as my bin had been ‘swallowed up’ by the lorry, and a new one was being sent.

“I would have thought they could have at least informed me at the time. They could have at least put a note through my door.

“But it gets worse – I won’t get a new bin for six weeks!

“In the meantime, there is no contingency in their lorry to pick up my garden waste without the bin, which they lost.

“I pay for this at an annual cost so am quite annoyed at this service.

“I have already now twice had to drive to Rabans Lane dump with my garden rubbish.

“I understand accidents happen but think that my complaint could have been handled better.”

The council has been approached for a comment.
