Swan Pool customers can now use the facilities and leave their children in the capable hands of staff at a new crèche.

Every weekday morning, children aged from three months to five years old can enjoy fun and games, while their parents or carers use the leisure facilities.

An hour in the crèche starts at £2.10 per child, and you don’t have to be a member to take advantage. Parents and carers do have to stay on site for the duration of the stay however.

Councillor Angela Macpherson, AVDC cabinet member for leisure, communities and civic amenities, said: “Mums and dads especially need time for their own mind and body, and taking part with others in a class or working out at the gym is so important.

“I would encourage parents to make use of this essential facility.”

The Swan Pool is currently undergoing a £2.6million revamp, thanks for a £500,000 Sport England grant and funding from AVDC.

This means that the centre will get an extended fitness suite and refurbished and extended changing rooms.

Christine Coppack, contract manager for Everyone Active, said: “We are delighted to offer this fantastic service for our customers.

“We want to make activity as accessible to everyone as possible and childcare can often be a limitation for parents.

“With on-site professional childcare available at very reasonable prices, we hope that this will encourage more parents and guardians to find some time for some of the many activities on offer at the centre.”
