Lorry load of litter and 'deliberately broken' glass removed from two Buckingham parks
Patrols stepped up to tackle underage drinking
Buckingham Town Council staff and volunteers cleared an entire truckload of rubbish - including a large amount of broken glass - from two of the town's parks in a single morning.
The litter was cleared from Chandos Park and Bourton Park on Wednesday, April 6 by the council's green spaces team, helped by local volunteers.
A town council spokesman said: "The biggest concern is the amount of broken glass from deliberately smashed bottles.
"The green spaces team have worked really hard to clear up all the fragments but when it is in the grass it is impossible to find it all. It then poses an injury risk to small children, dogs and wildlife.
"The council have been in contact with the neighbourhood policing team, who are increasing patrols and investigating where underage drinkers have been getting their alcohol."
The council spokesman thanked the volunteers who helped with the clear-up, and added: "Please enjoy the parks, but take your waste home."
