Police and fire were called to reports of a man stuck in a dinghy on the river.

The incident was reported at around 1.10pm today, Monday, by passersby who saw the dinghy on the River Great Ouse, on Nelson Street, Buckingham, and were concerned for the man’s welfare. The dinghy appeared to be out of control.

On arrival, police and the fire service found the dinghy and pulled it out of the water. They started searching for the man, but received reports around 15 minutes later of the man being spotted in Londis.

He was checked out by the ambulance service and although wet and cold, was uninjured.

Firefighters from Buckingham and Winslow and the water rescue unit from Newport Pagnell were also called to the scene.
