Nine men and two women have been arrested following a raid at a traveller site in Buckinghamshire today (Thursday).

In an operation led by Northamptonshire Police and supported by Thames Valley Police, officers are currently searching caravans and other property at the Dunroamin site, close to the village of Whitfield and the Turweston aerodrome.

Chief Inspector Tom Thompson, Daventry district commander, said: “We have had a very successful morning in terms of making arrests which we believe are linked to a large amount of criminality. A team of officers have conducted a thorough search of the site and local community offices from Brackley remain on site to assist with things like children attended school.”

The arrests have been made in connection with a range of suspected offences including shoplifting, garage forecourt drive-offs and burglary. The 11 people are currently in custody at the Criminal Justice Centre in Northampton.
