Police seek public’s help over poaching

Police in Aylesbury Vale want to raise awareness of deer and hare coursing.

The police rely on people in the countryside to report the finding of any deer remains, no matter how insignificant it may seem.

If police can find out where poaching is happening, they have a better chance of catching those responsible.

Coursing – the pursuit of game with dogs – was made illegal in 2004.

Not only is it considered cruel, but there are health risks when game is sold on for human consumption.

The animals are often butchered in a field or even at home indoors with no food hygiene precautions.
