An independent examination for Winslow’s Neighbourhood Development Plan is taking place at Winslow’s Bell Hotel on Friday, February 14.

The examination hearing, which is open to the public, will be conducted by independent examiner Mr Nigel McGurk, starting at 10.30am.

A Neighbourhood Development Plan allows local communities to develop land use planning policies for their area. The draft Winslow plan is the first in all of Bucks to reach examination stage.

The inspector will have the opportunity to explore key issues which have been raised by local residents and developers during consultation.

Among the developers invited to attend are Gladman Developments, Land & Partners and Crevichon Properties, which owns the site of Winslow’s new station.

Chairman of the plan steering group, Llew Monger, urged as many local people as possible to attend.

He said: “Although only those invited to attend can speak, it would be very encouraging to have a good turnout. I appreciate it’s a working day, but if we can get members of the public to attend it will reinforce the support they have shown to the plan.

“It will also give people the opportunity to hear what these developers have to say.

“Without doubt, the developers will all have high-powered teams there, barristers and consultants, while we are just local people trying to protect the plan we’ve put together with the support of the community.”

And he added: “I hope it won’t be the St Valentine’s Day Massacre of the hopes and wishes of the community.”
