YEAR 2 children at Buckingham Primary School have been busy painting for the Diamond Jubilee.

And their portraits are now proudly hanging in the window of Dandy Lions, in Buckingham’s High Street.

The children have been learning about the role of the monarchy and why we are celebrating The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

They have also been investigating the importance of these celebrations to the local community.

Year 2 teacher Jacqueline Hawking said: “The children have really enjoyed creating their portraits of The Queen.

“The fact that Dandy Lions asked for them to be displayed gave the children a real boost.

“They are so proud to have their pictures in a real gallery situation.”

Dandy Lions owner Jo Watson said: “My shop windows look fantastic. I would never have imagined that it would turn out so well.

There are some very artistic pupils at Buckingham Primary School and they should all be very proud of themselves.”
