Roundabout reviewed after petition

A road safety review has been carried out on a ‘dangerous’ roundabout.

Over 2,000 people signed an e-petition launched in February, over the markings on the roundabout at the junction of the A421 Buckingham bypass and the A413 London Road.

The petition was launched by Buckingham Town Councillor Jon Harvey, who said: “this roundabout is dangerous”. In response to the petition, Bucks County Council (BCC) has undertaken a road safety review of the roundabout.

The review found that the lane markings had not been installedin accordance with the drawing that was approved by the county council.

Lane markings were also badly worn and faded.

And additional lane markings were needed to help road users with the transition from the old roundabout layout to the new one.

Minor amendments have already been carried out to make the roundabout safer for road users until a Stage 3 Safety Audit is carried out once work is completed.

The enlargement of the roundabout is part of works being carried out by Aggregate Industries in connnection with the new Windsor Park/Lace Hill housing development, which also included widening the bypass.
