SOUTH Northants MP Andrea Leadsom is celebrating after helping to lead a successful campaign to bring the next generation of mobile phone and broadband technology to rural areas.
Yesterday, Thursday, OFCOM announced action plans that will see broadband coverage increased to around 98 per cent of the UK, and will improve infrastructure in rural areas.
Currently up to six million people in Britain are excluded from good mobile coverage.
Mrs Leadom said: “This much needed investment will transform our businesses and be of benefit to our economy.
“It will transform health through telemedicine and education through distance learning. I have long been a supporter of improving rural broadband and this announcement will be a huge benefit to South Northamptonshire.”
