Scouts’ plan to bring pavilion back to life

There’s a chance to view plans to bring an unused Buckingham building back to life next weekend.

The 3rd Buckingham Scout Group have been in discussions with Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) for two years in a bid to bring the pavilion on Embleton Way into use as a community building and a new home to the scout group.

The group, which has been in Buckingham for more than 70 years, needs to move from its current meeting place on Adams Close, which is outdated, expensive to maintain and badly in need of repair.

The scouts have now submitted a planning application to extend the existing building and make some internal alterations.

The plan is to provide a modern, flexible layout with meeting rooms and a large hall for beaver, cub and scout meetings.

Plans will be on display in the pavilion on Saturday, November 17, from 2.30pm to 6pm.

Assistant scout leader Chris Epps said: “We are really excited about this as for some time now we have been looking for how best we can provide a modern spacious and flexible premises to allow us to provide active scouting for the young people of Buckingham.”
