POLICE are appealing for witnesses after the second serious crash on the same stretch of the A5, north of Towcester, in six months.

At around 12.30pm on Thursday, March 15 a silver Mercedes Vito van collided with a blue Renault Megane near the Duncote turn on the A5.

The 32-year-old Megane driver, named locally as Kevin Bulmer from Buckingham, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Northampton General Hospital and is currently in a stable condition. The 33-year-old Mercedes driver from Welton was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been released on police bail.

The crash comes five months after Georgina (Mary) Linford from Duncote died when she pulled out of the Duncote turn on to the A5 into the path of another car.

Witnesses to last week’s accident should call Police on 101 - alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
