TWO Buckingham gardens are opening this weekend for the National Garden Scheme.

Hill House and Walnut Yard will open on Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and 20, from 1pm to 6pm.

Begun in 2001, the Tardis-like garden at Hill House, on Castle Street, was designed by the owners. It offers an amazing view high over the roofscape of old Buckingham.

Walnut Yard, on Church Street, was for 550 years the parish church vicarage garden. It falls away from the house to the banks of the River Ouse in three levels, each different in nature.

There will also be cream teas at Buckingham Parish Church and a rare plant sale.

Proceeds from the National Garden Scheme (NGS) go to a variety of nursing, gardening and caring charities.
