Show off your gardening greatness in Aylesbury in Bloom’s Garden Competition

Judges want to see what gardening skills residents, organisations, businesses and schools within the Parish of Aylesbury have to offer this summer.

The Town Council has hosted this event every year since 2007 but after taking a break in 2020 due to the pandemic it’s back and the judges are looking forward to visiting entrants’ gardens, schools and local businesses and organisations in July and August.

The competition is once again supported by Michael Anthony Estate Agents, for which the Council are very grateful.

To ensure everyone’s safety all judging visits will be adhering to government COVID-19 guidelines which will be in place at the time of judging.

The following Garden Competition categories that can be entered for free are:

For residents: best front garden, best back garden, best edible garden, best wildlife/nature garden, best container garden (including window boxes, pots and baskets), best young gardener.

For schools: best garden in a pot.

For organisations and businesses: best communal garden.

Winners will be recognised with a bronze, silver, silver gilt or gold award.

The judges will also give commendations as well as the Rose Bowl award to best overall garden in the residents’ class, the Mayor’s cup to the overall winner of the best communal

garden in organisations and businesses class and the Spade award will be given to the best overall winner in the schools’ class.

Fingers are crossed for an in-person award presentation night for residents and organisations/business categories on Thursday 16 September.

This is a fun and friendly competition for gardeners of all ages and abilities. It is free to enter the competition but applications must be completed by Monday 14 June.
