A choir is tuning up for its spring concert, in aid of a young carers group.
The Lenborough Singers are performing A Celebration of British Composers on Sunday, March 22, at St Bernadine’s Church, Buckingham.
The concert, celebrating English composers from Purcell to Parry to more modern composers such as Karl Jenkins, will raise money for Buckingham & Winslow Young Carers (YC2), which has had its funding slashed.
The popular choir’s Christmas concert was a sell-out.
Chairman Guy Hawking said: “Families and friends like to come and support us.
“We try to do something different and that’s why people come to watch us perform.”
And he added: “We like to choose a local charity and like it if there’s a member who has a link to the cause. We like the personal connection.”
YC2 co-ordinator Margo Parfitt will be attending the concert.
YC2 provides a club night once a month for young carers aged seven to 19..
But thanks to community support, they have also been able to take the children on trips to the cinema, see the MK Dons play and have recently had a go at scuba diving at Stowe.
Mrs Parfitt said: “Most groups who raise money for us like us to spend it on a treat. Last year we visited the Harry Potter studios. What we’ll do is spend it on a day out for the carers.”
There are two performances at 2.30 and 730pm. Tickets from Bartlett’s Tea Rooms.
