A great-grandmother with a flair for keeping her retirement home pals active has been crowned as a highly commended community champion.
Modest Jenny Guy, 76, organises events such as a mad hatter’s tea party at Godwin Court in Brackley to keep her fellow residents entertained.
But her neighbour Stella Taplin, 84, did not want her sterling work to go unnoticed so nominated her for a Happy Living Award.
Jenny, who lives at the home with her husband and ‘right-hand man’ Don, 73, said: “I am over the moon to have been nominated by Stella. It’s wonderful really and just delighted we are doing something which makes others happy.”
Stella said: “Jenny is so generous, always going out of her way to put a smile on people’s faces, and I feel she deserves special recognition for her kindness.”
Jenny, who has six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, has organised a black-tie Valentine’s Ball for her fellow tenants this weekend.
