There is traffic congestion across the south Northants region after a grain lorry spilled its load across the A43.

The lorry was travelling south along the A43 at around 8.30am today, Friday, September 13, when it crashed near the junction for Syresham, just before B4525 turn.

The A43 is currently closed in both directions between the BP roundabout in Brackley and the Abthorpe roundabout at Towcester.

Sergeant Micki Kennett of Brackley police station said: “At the moment it looks like a grain lorry was travelling south.

“It over turned and took out the central reservation and shed its load into the northbound carriageway.

“The accident happened southbound but it’s disrupting the northbound carriageway and both have been closed. And they won’t be open again until the barrier has been repaired and that’s probably going to be quite some considerable time.”

There a currently no reports of any injuries.

Diverted traffic is causing congestion in Towcester and Buckingham.

Motorists are warned to avoid the area.
