MP John Bercow will play in a tennis match on March 21, to launch a charitable trust and raise money for a tennis club.
Tennis fan Mr Bercow, who in his day was ranked Britain’s Number One junior tennis player, will play three sets of doubles against local opposition to secure a donation of £1,000 to Buckingham Tennis Club.
If he wins, the money will be donated to the club to purchase a new practice ball machine.
Mr Bercow will be partnered by friends of Barry Markham, who passed away in 2013.
The Markham Trust has been set up in Mr Markham’s name to promote local good causes, and in particular to encourage junior sport and get young people playing.
Mr Bercow, who has written a book called Tennis Maestros: The 20 Greatest Male Tennis Players Of All Time, was elected Honorary President of Buckingham Tennis Club in October, when he won an exhibition match against the club’s 18-year-old men’s champion, Max Heaton.
