With memories of summer days fading fast, Padbury-based charity Brain Tumour Research is hoping to put a spring back in your step with a sponsored walk along the Grand Union Canal on Saturday, September 28.
The route is from Stoke Hammond, near Leighton Buzzard, to Great Linford, near Newport Pagnell and Milton Keynes.
The Canal Walk was enjoyed last year by walkers both young and old, with many stopping for lunch at one of the pubs along the canal.
Passing locks, barges and stunning scenery, the walk is a chance to enjoy spotting wildlife, making friends and raising vital funds for brain tumour research.
Charity director Sue Farrington-Smith will be taking part, along with other members of the Brain Tumour Research team and MP for Milton Keynes South, Iain Stewart.
One of the charity’s celebrity patrons, actor Ian Reddington, will be joining the walk at lunchtime.
Participants can choose to walk either five and half miles to the Plough Inn in Simpson or 10 and a half miles to the Giffard Park pub at Giffard Park.
Those wanting more of a challenge could walk the 21-mile round trip from Stoke Hammond to Great Linford and back.
Registration is £5 per person with children under 16 going free. Dogs must kept on leads in certain areas.
