Carnival came to town on Wednesday, to celebrate Nigeria’s Independence Day.
October is Black History Month and the University of Buckingham’s Nigerian Society has been hosting a series of events this week.
On Wednesday, a colourful procession of students wearing traditional costume and the white and green of the Nigerian flag wound its way through town.
Starting from the law school in Verney Park, the procession travelled down London Road, via Villiers Hotel and Nelson Street to Old Tanlaw Mill, where snacks and drinks were served and there were dance and drumming performances.
Last night, Thursday, a Fashion Show and Trade Fair was held at in Old Tanlaw Mill, with prizes for the best traditional wear.
