Cyclist Hannah Barnes says she ‘cannot wait’ to race through her home county again along with the best in the world.
The Friends Life Women’s Tour returns to Northants on June 19 and Towcester girl Barnes will hope to lead her UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling team through the familiar route.
She said: “The prospect of racing on home roads again is very exciting. Last year’s experience was unbelievable. The crowds that lined the route were unbelievable and to have so many people come out and support the event was humbling and really made me proud to be British.
Here’s to a great 2015 Tour. I cannot wait!”
The cyclists will race from Oundle to Kettering for stage three of the five-day tour.
Heather Smith, deputy leader at Northants County Council, said: “I’m looking forward to seeing people across the county turn out to cheer on the riders and support this fantastic event, as they did in 2014.”
