Buckingham Town Council’s town centre and events committee have succeeded in booking one of TV’s most popular stand-up comics to headline at their next Comedy Night in January.

Paul Chowdhry, the new host of Channel 4’s Stand Up For The Week, will be live on stage at the Old Town Hall on Sunday, January 26, and tickets are on sale now.

Chowdhry began an eight-week run at the helm of the fifth series of the Friday night TV comedy show Stand Up For The Week in November.

His best-selling live DVD, What’s Happening White People, which aired on Channel 4 in September, was watched by about a million people.

And he was named Loaded Laftas Funniest Stand-Up of 2013 by public vote, against big-name nominees including Michael McIntyre, Ross Noble, Kevin Bridges and Jon Richardson.

The compere for the evening will be Kevin McCarthy, who will be making a return visit to Buckingham.

Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8pm.

Tickets £12.50 (over-18s only) are available from Villiers Hotel and the Tourist Information Centre at the Old Gaol.

The town centre and events committee wants to thank everyone who has supported the Comedy Nights.
