A visitor to Winslow was so impressed with the warmth and professionalism of the town’s businesses that he
emailed the town council with his glowing comments.

David and Lorraine MacLennan, from Glasgow, spent two nights in Winslow last month to attend a Twyford wedding.

Mr MacLennan was full of praise for all the businesses the couple used in the town, starting with the “amazing hospitality” provided by their hostess, Anna Heaton, at Just So Cottage, in The Walk.

Mr MacLennan wrote: “Nothing was too much trouble for her and she even loaned a beautiful pashmina to my wife to cope with the extremely unseasonable weather.”

The couple dined at Paprika, in Horn Street, where they were “amazed by the excellent service and friendliness of the owner and his staff”. Mrs MacLennanhad an appointment at Lizzie’s hair salon, on Market Square, where “the staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful”.

Mr MacLennan went on to praise the taxi firm, coffee shops and pub the pair used over the weekend

He concluded: “I felt that I should in someway highlight what an incredible level of professionalism and warmth is being shown from both local business and residents of your beautiful town. You all should be very proud of the efforts to make strangers feel welcome.

Mayor of Winslow, David Barry, has replied to Mr
MacLennan personally.

He said: “We are very proud of the fact that Winslow is seen as a welcoming and friendly place to visit, something we do try very hard to promote.”
