LAST weekend Winslow hosted its biggest town twinning visit for many years, with 92 adult and child guests in the party from Cours La Ville.
The French town won the annual judo competition, with six-year-old captain Naella Bettayeb collecting the trophy. She was also awarded the Cyril Spencer cup for ‘fair play and sportsmanship’, which was presented by mayor of Cours Patrice Verchere, who is a Deputy in the French Parliament.
Visiting French firefighters laid a wreath at Winslow’s War Memorial, and visitors had the chance to learn the finer points of bowls, as opposed to boules.
They also got the opportunity to shop for local fare at Winslow’s farmer’s’ market on Sunday morning.
