Traffic on the A43 near Silverstone was delayed this morning after an accident involving a 4x4 towing a cherry picker.

One lane of the dual carriageway was closed in both directions between the A413 junction and Silverstone Circuit as emergency services dealt with the incident.

PC Dave Lee posted details on Tuesday morning on his Twitter account, @Northants_RPU.

He said: “4x4 towing a cherry picker. Trailer has become detached from the 4x4 and flipped onto the opposite carriageway.”

Emergency services worked to clear the road of debris to re-open the dual carriageway and traffic was diverted off the A43 towards to the A413 to reduce tailbacks.

The Highways Agency was reporting delays of about 30 minutes and advised that the road would not return to normal until 12.15pm.
