WORKMEN began the construction of a new pedestrian crossing in Brackley this week following an successful campaign to replace a lollipop lady.

At the beginning of the last summer term parents of children attending Southfield Primary were horrified to learn that their lollipop lady of 25 years had not been replaced after she stood down in the Spring.

Parents feared for their children’s safety on a busy stretch of the Banbury Road and lead a successful campaign against Highways officials to have the crossing positioned in the safest location.
