RURAL bus services are under threat, following the announcement by Northants County Council of a complete overhaul of the way it funds public transport.
The change would mark an end to subsidising unprofitable bus routes, as the county council tries to make up a £20 million budget shortfall.
In December the authority announced it would be carrying out a review of all bus services receiving subsidies from the authority, to help make £68 million worth of savings in the next financial year.
Now NCC is proposing to scrap all bus subsidies, saving a further £1.4 million.
