TV science presenter and botanist James Wong was the star of the show at a fundraising weekend for the Puzzle Centre at Buckingham Garden Centre.
The Kew Gardens-trained presenter of Grow Your Own Medicine gave talks and signed copies of his new book, James Wong’s Homegrown Revolution.
Garden centre publicity manager Chris Day said: “He got the audience very wowed by his philosophy. They were really engaged.
“He gave a couple of presentations on growing your own. His message was clear – you should experiment with more unusual crops.
“There was a long queue of people for his book signing sessions and people were asking him questions.
“When he was chatting to them, he was very genuine.”
The weekend also included community stalls, a magician, face-painting, a lucky dip and a treasure hunt which raised £280 for The Puzzle Centre.
The first prize of a pair of first-class Virgin train tickets was scooped by J Berry, of Bicester.
