A young chicken farmer has shown off his pecks in a national competition - and hopes to be crowned the UK’s sexiest farmer.
Elliott Rillie, works on Hawkwell Farm near Bicester when he is not studying for his agricultural and business management degree at Newcastle University.
The 21-year-old has grown up in the countryside, with his parents Kevin and Becky farming Burford Cotswold Legbar and Burford Brown chickens for their eggs.
He entered the competition in Farmer’s Weekly magazine for a bit of a joke, and says that he was surprised to be selected for the final, to win the grand prize - a pair of wellies and a £100 voucher.
He said: “I had to send in some photographs and say things about who I was and what I do.
“When I was selected the magazine wanted to see more pictures, but by that stage I was back at university and not on the farm.
“So I had to ask the university if I could do a photoshoot on their farm in Newcastle, that was an interesting phonecall!”
He added: “It’s a bit strange to be in the final, I think it’s quite funny and I have had a lot of abuse from friends about it.
“I think being a finalist will be good fun, I’m only in it for the entertainment value and we’ll see how it goes.”
