PEOPLE were invited to see a display of plans for Buckingham’s new day centre on Tuesday - although a definite site has not yet been chosen.
Architects ADP, which has been engaged by Bucks County Council to design the new facility, were on hand to talk about their design at the two-hour exhibition at Buckingham library.
They said it was proving tricky to find a site for Buckingham’s new centre, and no site had yet been identified.
But associate architect Catherine Yeatman told the Advertiser they had not ruled out using the Well Street Centre.
She said: “We have been to the Well Street Centre and we understand why people feel so strongly about it.
“There are issues about levels and access but if we can sort that out, it’s a very nice building in a very good location.
“At the end of the day, these places only work if you get buy-in from the people who are using them.”
Partner Bruce Mullett said the main concern about Well Street was flood risk, and a more detailed flood risk analysis would need to be done.
County councillor for Buckingham North, David Polhill, said: “In the not-too-distant future, we will be able to identify to the public the actual site where it will go.
“I can say with certainty it will be within Buckingham town and I can guarantee Buckingham will have its own centre and people will not need to be bussed to Aylesbury.”
