RESIDENTS at Winslow’s packed annual town meeting last Thursday saw Maureen French receive the 2012 Winslow Citizen Of The Year award.

Mrs French, aged 70, was declared outright winner out of eight nominees.

She was nominated by Fred Matthews and Hilary Thornton for her work for the Royal British Legion, Samaritan’s Purse Christmas shoebox appeal, Winslow Parish News, Winslow Players, Florence Nightingale Hospice and church choir.

Nominees Ruth Ash, Terry Capstick, David Legge, Sue Sellars, Ruth Slater and David and Denise Ward all received a certificate. And Sue Sellars received a special award for her service to the community during 54 years at Cantells.
