TRADE is starting to pick up again at one of Buckingham’s rural businesses, now the problem of roadside signage has been solved.

In March, we reported how trade had slumped at Boycott Farm Shop, near Stowe, after Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) made the shop remove its roadside signs.

The story provoked an outcry from loyal customers.

Now, three new brown tourist signs have been installed, at the crossroads with Stowe School, the Brackley Road crossroads with Water Stratford and the entrance to Welsh Lane.

Owner Richard Hilsdon, who had to pay for the new signs, said: “They’re certainly helping customers to find us again.

“New people have said they’ve come to us because of the new signs.”

And he thanked his loyal customers for their support.

He said: “We have a very strong customer base and lots of customers become friends. We’ve got some wonderful, wonderful customers. That’s kept us going through a very difficult time.”
