X5 bus stop to move from town centre?

Users of the X5 bus service in Buckingham are urged to attend an important meeting of the Aylesbury Vale Transport Users Group (AVTUG) at 10am on Tuesday, March 4.

Stagecoach, which operates the service to Oxford to Cambridge, is considering switching the X5 bus stop back to Tesco, on the A421 bypass, instead of the town centre.

The company is buying new buses which have better accommodation for disabled people and wheelchair users but are too long to do the turn into the bus stand in Buckingham town centre.

Secretary of the AVTUG, Colin Richardson, said this would be a retrograde step.

“I think it is going to cause uproar,” he said.

Operations manager for Stagecoach East, Zoe Paget, will be at the meeting, in the council chamber at Buckingham Community Centre to explain the company’s plans.

Mr Richardson urged bus users to attend the meeting.
