Alan Leach’s plea on behalf of Buckingham Rugby Club with regard to dog fouling (Buckingham & Winslow Advertiser, Friday September 14) has spurred me in to writing a letter which I have been intending to do for many months.

Now that the Olympic Torch Relay has started in Penzance (to be in Buckingham on July 9), perhaps I could take the opportunity to ask someone on the relevant Olympic organising committee to explain the rather curious, mixed up logic for selecting torch bearers in and around Buckingham?

Letter: ‘Abysmal’ record on sports

I read with interest the article ‘Rugby club on way to £275k extension’ and I am delighted that SNC have made a grant of £120k towards Towcestrians club house development but I found laughable councillor Ian McCord’s comment this was in keeping with their strategy which included better sports and leisure facilities ahead of housing growth.

Lack of parking the real issue

Further to Councillor Rowlands assertion in your paper that Buckingham is ‘very adequately covered with off street parking provision,’ (‘Towns to benefit as wardens go private’, Buckingham and Winslow Advertiser, March 30) I was not surprised to see he doesn’t live in the town.
