FOOTBALL: Buckingham Athletic first team and Buckingham Athletic Reserves enjoyed league and cup wins last Saturday.
Athletic Reserves travelled to FC Bedgrove in the fourth round of the Berks & Bucks Junior Cup and came back with a 4-2 win after extra time.
The result came against the background of numerous Athletic players pulling out on the morning of the game and the side’s veteran player/manager had to play the whole 120 minutes as they only had eleven players,
The game went to extra time after it was 1-1 after 90 minutes. Athletic found the greater impetus in extra time as Chris Brunning hit three goals and Lewis Higgs was also on target.
In the fifth round they will play either Winnersh Rangers or Sandhurst Reserves at home on Saturday January 29.
Athletic first team also won 2-0 in the league away to Cranfield United, with a goal in each half from Jonny Cater.
This Saturday the first team are away to Wodson Park 3pm kick-off and on Tuesday January 18 they are at home to Mursley United in the Buckingham Charity Cup, 7.45pm kick-off.
