BICESTER & North Oxford 1st XI cruised to a seven-wicket victory over Witney Mills at Akeman Street.
The win was Bicester’s third in successive matches and it lifts the side to third in Cherwell League Division Three, four points behind leaders Dinton IIs.
Witney opted to bat but struggled to 57-3 at the mid-innings drinks break.
More tight bowling from Bicester kept their opponents’ total down to 140-9 from their 53 overs.
Richard Simpson was the stand out bowler after taking 3-44 while James Rimmer (2-22) and seam bowler Safian Muhammad (2-30) also impressed.
In reply, Bicester suffered a setback when key batsman Nick Moorman was adjudged LBW to the dangerous Pierre Lefort.
However, Rimmer carried on his excellent form from the previous week as he struck a telling 66 not out to lead his side to victory,
Dan Murphy chipped in with a handy 36 to help secure an empathic seven-wicket win.
This Saturday, Bicester and North Oxford visit mid-table Banbury IIIs for a match that starts at 1pm
