Brackley Town boss Jon Brady has stressed that Vanarama North survival is his side’s priority as they prepare for an FA Carlsberg Trophy game at Gainsborough Trinity tomorrow.

The Saints go to The Northolme in the third qualifying round on the back of a ‘hugely frustrating’ 2-1 league defeat at Tamworth on Tuesday night.

Town had led 1-0 at half-time, but conceded two late goals against their relegation rivals. And league matters continue to play on the Brackley manager’s mind ahead of this weekend’s Trophy test.

“We’ll go there and try to win, but the main priority has to be staying in our league,” said Brady, who last week recruited Northampton Town keeper Dean Snedker on loan.

“We’ll play our best team but we just haven’t got the bodies at the moment. Curtis McDonald got injured on Tuesday and we’re down to 16, which is very light.

“A run in this competition could be detrimental to our league bid but we’ll go to Gainsborough and see what we can do.”
