Brackley 1st XI continued their push for promotion with a 103-run win over rivals Didcot in Cherwell League Division Six.
Brackley batted first and made a positive start with Carpenter scoring a quick-fire 18. However, rain interrupted Brackley’s progress and Robbie Keats (4-39) made the most of the conditions to peg the home side back.
Mikey Lowe (43) and skipper Mikey Cartwright (71no) then set about the job of upping the run-rate and with contributions from Jamie Fowler (12) and a rapid 13 not out from Olly Goddard, Brackley closed their innings on 190-6.
In reply, Didcot were always up against it as wickets fell quickly. Keith Cartwright (4-43) and Rob Cartwright (4-26) ripped through the Didcot batting, backed up by some superb close catching round the bat, Brackley bowled Didcot out for just 87 to secure a comfortable win.
Captain Cartwright said after: “It was a superb team performance today and a massive win in the push for promotion. We need to make sure we take this momentum forward game-by-game.”
