Young karting graduate, Ryan Harper-Ellam, finished his first season in the single-seater Formula Jedi Championship in eighth position out of 21 drivers.

In the final round of the season at Silverstone – the Brackley racer’s local circuit – Ryan managed to pass four cars in the final four laps to take his first podium and claim third place.

The 16-year-old, now part of the MSA Academy UK driver programme, is looking to step up into the new MSA Formula for 2015, which will be supporting the British Touring Car Championship. Some teams have already spoken to Ryan.

The youngster says: “Having worked my way up through karting and into single seaters, I hope to create a long and successful career as a professional driver. The support and benefits of being a part of the MSA Academy driver programme is helping me massively.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in getting me where I am today, especially my sponsors HELLA Gutmann Solutions, Stamford Building, all the team and my family. It’s been a great year and I hope to be somewhere even better in the near future!”

Darren Robinson, managing director of HELLA Limited, added: “Ryan is a talented driver who, with the right backing and opportunities, could be a star of the future.” Ryan is searching for sponsors to join him in 2015 when the new series will be shown on live TV.
