Buckingham Town strengthened their position at the top of Cherwell League Division One with an eight-wicket win over Banbury IIs.
In a game reduced to 66 overs due to rain, Banbury chose to bat first but they made a terrible start with Lester Smart dismissing captain Andrew Sabin first ball of the innings.
Smart and Wayne Platts both took early wickets to reduce the visitors to 12-4 before Steve Beck (15) and Justin Lambden (16) put on 31, but both fell quickly to leave the visitors 45-6.
Josh Hill (26) and Ollie Murray (22) added 44 for the seventh wicket to take Banbury past 100 before both fell late on to Jason Ell as the innings closed on 112-9. Smart took 3-17 and Wayne Platts 3-27.
With the threat of rain, Buckingham’s openers both made solid starts with Pearson (23) and Price (27 off 27 balls) getting the hosts to 60-2.
Simon Myatt took the weather out of the equation, however, as his unbeaten 42 from just 22 balls, including three fours and three sixes, led Buckingham to victory.
