Buckingham Town 1st XI are up to second in Cherwell Cricket League Division One after a seven-wicket win over local rivals Twyford.
Town notched their first win of the season last weekend and they continued the winning momentum against Twyford.
Chasing 171 to win, Rob Large hit 87 as Buckingham eased to the target inside just 36 overs, which earned them 25 points from the encounter, taking them up to 124 points in Division One, 23 behind leaders Horspath.
Twyford, meanwhile, are on 89 points and drop down to seventh.
Buckingham won the toss and chose to bowl first but it was the visitors who initially made the stronger start with Shahid Mahmood hitting some early boundaries.
However, he was bowled by Callum Price for 17 before David Powles (24) and Tanveer Nadeem (23) put on 44 for the second wicket to steady the Twyford ship.
But a change of bowlers brought a change of fortune for the home side as Ben Laycock and Jason Ell removed both in the space of five overs.
Ryan and Sam Lyon put another solid partnership but again both departed when well set with James Gear and Jack Parish taking three quick wickets.
At 119-6, Twyford were in danger of being dismissed for less than 150 but some late resistance from Gary Sansome (21) took the visitors up to 170 all out.
Parish (3-35) and Gear (3-42) were the pick of the bowlers.
In Buckingham’s reply, Twyford opened with the spin of Bilal Afzal who had Ben Laycock caught behind early for six to put the match in the balance.
Rob Large and Ash Pearson started slowly for the second wicket, but they soon accelerated.
Both passed 50 from 79 balls as they put on 147 in 30 overs to put the result beyond doubt.
Large was stumped for 87 before Parish departed for a duck but it mattered little as Pearson finished 63 not out to take Buckingham over the line.
This weekend, Buckingham visit Oxford IIs, while Twyford entertain fifth-placed Shipton-under-Wychwood.
